Recipient: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

This month, Curtis Mellott the owner of The Beer Hunter was the proud presenter of the Molson Cup trophy. The Beer Hunter is a staple restaurant and gathering place in the Spruce Grove Community, something that Curtis has fostered over the 20 years since he opened the doors to the establishment. Curtis is a lifelong Oilers fan and loves seeing Oil Country show up to The Beer Hunter on game night to cheer on the Oilers.

The recipient of the Molson Cup trophy for the month of October was Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who recorded 5 goals and 11 points across the 9 games, including scoring his 200th career goal against the St. Louis Blues on October 26th. Ryan had three multi-point games on the month, which included the game winning goal in back to back games against Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

As recipient of this award, Ryan has selected Cystic Fibrosis Canada as his charity of choice. Molson Coors Canada will make a $1000 donation in his name.

November

Recipient: Connor McDavid

To present November’s award, Troy Marchak the owner of Crown & Tower in St. Albert proudly stepped on the ice to award Connor McDavid the Molson Cup for November. Crown & Tower is seen by many St. Albert community members as the heart of the town, offering people a friendly spot for food, drink, and of course a great spot to cheer on the Oilers. With 18 years of ownership, Troy has seen his fair share of Oilers games within the walls of Crown & Tower and loves sharing wins with his loyal patrons.

To earn the Molson Cup in November, Connor McDavid put up 23 points, including 8 multi-point games and 2 game winning goals. His 43 points in 24 games has him sitting atop the NHL scoring race as McDavid continues to impress across the league.

This month, Connor has selected Stollery Children’s Hospital as the recipient of $1000 donated on his behalf from Molson Coors Canada.

December

Recipient: Connor McDavid

JT’s Bar & Grill has been a mainstay location for those in the south Edmonton community of Mill Woods for years, and for the month of December owner Laura Hesse was gracious enough to present Connor McDavid with the monthly Molson Cup award. No stranger to Oilers fandom, JT’s Bar & Grill is often the stomping grounds for the most passionate supporters within Oil Country, but is also known for their live music, great food and friendly service. Laura is the owner of the establishment and has recently expanded their horizons by opening a new catering division of the business.

Winning the Molson Cup for the second consecutive month, Connor McDavid led the NHL in points with 31 (14 goals and 17 assists) and earned the league’s 2nd Star for December. Nothing new for the Oilers superstar, who now sits atop the scoring race by 15 points with a total of 72 on the season.

With his $1000 donation on behalf of Molson Coors Canada going to the Ben Stelter Fund, Connor has chosen to support children fighting pediatric cancer.

January

Recipient: Zach Hyman

For the month of January, owner of O’Byrne’s Irish Pub, Cathal Byrne presented Zach Hyman with the Molson Cup. Established in 1998, O’Byrne’s is the quintessential Irish Pub and a cornerstone of the Whyte Ave community. Cathal has been around since it’s inception and is proud of the great menu and fun atmosphere he and his staff have been able to create in the heart of one of Edmonton’s most thriving districts.

Receiving the award for the first time as an Oiler, Zach Hyman continues his impressive 2022/23 campaign by tallying 9 goals and 11 assists, good for 20 points on the month tying teammate Connor McDavid for the team lead. Fairly good company for the second year Oiler, who is on pace for a career year since joining the league in 2015.

Zach has selected the Ben Stelter Fund as the recipient of the $1000 donated on his behalf by Molson Coors Canada.

February

Recipient: Connor McDavid

Winning the Molson Cup for the third time in the 2022/23 season, Connor McDavid was presented the award by Cori Norman, Vice President of Operations for Sobeys Liquor. Cori started with Sobeys Liquor in 2007 and has been an integral part of their growth within Western Canada as she plays a key role in the development of new locations. Her natural leadership instincts and strategic approach have proven to be a catalyst for the Sobeys Liquor team during her tenure. With another league leading point output for the month of February, it was a no-brainer to award Oilers captain Connor McDavid with this month’s Molson Cup. Adding another 23 points onto his 115-point season total, Connor is on pace for a career-year and seems to have elevated his game to another level this season.

Connor has once again selected the Ben Stelter Fund as his recipient of the $1000 donation in his name on behalf of Molson Coors Canada.

March

Recipient: Leon Draisaitl

With deep Edmonton roots, The Canadian Brewhouse is the original Canadiana Sports Bar boasting locations all over the country. The newly opened Canadian ICEHouse in Edmonton’s ICE District Plaza has been a vital piece of Edmonton’s revitalized downtown and creating a true district surrounding Rogers Place. Presenting the Molson Cup for the month of March is VP of Operations, Alex Dunn. Alex has been with the company since 2012 and plays a pivotal role in the success of the operations at each location across Canada.

Racking up a total of 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 15 games throughout March, Leon Draisaitl continues to prove that alongside Connor McDavid, the Edmonton Oilers have one of the most dynamic duos in recent NHL memory. Now with a season total of 117 points, Draisaitl is now 2nd in league scoring only behind his aforementioned teammate McDavid. Look for the German superstar to continue his rampant scoring into the month of April as the Oilers aim to climb up the standings.

As recipient of this month’s Molson Cup award, Leon has selected Zoe’s Animal rescue as his charity of choice. Molson Coors Canada will make a $1000 donation in his name.
